I don't know if I'll ever get to mention this in comic, but I see Rachel as kind of the Mom of the neighborhood. All the kids like to hang out at her house when things at home get a little too stressful and she welcomes them with arms wide open. My head cannon for her in my Nuzlocke is that she was never able to have children and her Husband passed away a few years ago as well, so she is a widow now. She had always wanted a family, but because of these issues she never had one. So instead, she is kind of the surrogate mom for the kids in the town.
